Three Simple Lifestyle Changes for Improved Wellness

The key to good health is not just a simple list of tasks. It can be a complex plan filled with twists and turns, causing you to backtrack, create alternatives, and sometimes start over again. This isn’t to frustrate you, but to help you be prepared. If you are drifting along, checking a lot of your boxes, that’s great. With the addition of these three simple changes, you might bend with the curves when they happen.

First, make sure you are getting enough good fat in your diet. Not everything has to be lean and green, although some good fats are green. Take the avocado, for instance. The benefits you can get from just one serving of avocados are enough to add them to your permanent grocery list. Avocados are good for your digestion, vision, and heart health. And that’s just the small list of ways they benefit you. Olive oil, nuts, and fatty fish are other excellent sources of healthy fat.

Second, develop a healthy sleep routine. In today’s busy world, most of us work late into the night and start again early the next morning, claiming we don’t need to sleep that much. We’re fooling ourselves. We need seven to nine hours of sleep each night. When creating a sleep routine, decide when you will turn off the TV or laptop and when you’ll log off your social media sites. Lying in bed and watching TikTok should not be part of your routine. You can turn on a relaxing app or use essential oils to help you fall asleep, but do your best to consistently turn off the lights and head to bed at the same time every night.

A third lifestyle change to consider on your way to wellness is to manage your stress efficiently. As much as we try to avoid it, stress happens to the best of us. Working through your stress rather than letting it fester is key. Learn to take deep breaths, journal, or meditate your stress away, and you will feel the positive effects in no time. Plus, handling your stress helps you sleep better.

These lifestyle changes shouldn’t be that difficult, and once you tackle them, you can add three more to your list. There is always room for improvement, and you can never have too many good choices in your corner. Especially when talking about your health and wellness.
